What is the best time of year to visit?

The best months to visit are May, June, and September.

These shoulder-season months offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds than the peak summer period. You can explore the vast outdoor grounds comfortably. The full Historical Route is also fully operational during this time.

What time of day is least crowded?

Arrive early in the morning to avoid the largest daily tour groups.

Getting there right when the gates open gives you a head start. You will need 3.5 to 4 hours to walk the full Historical Route. Starting early leaves plenty of time to enjoy the site before afternoon crowds arrive.

How does the weather impact your visit?

Exploring the 21-hectare complex requires spending significant time outdoors.

Bring sunscreen and sunglasses if you visit in the summer. The castle interiors and underground passages remain cool year-round. You should pack a light jacket or warm sweater regardless of the month.

How do you beat the transit crowds from Gdansk?

Take an early direct PKP Intercity or regional train from Gdansk Glowny.

The train ride takes 30 to 55 minutes and costs 6-27 USD. From Malbork Station, it is a 15-minute walk to the castle. Beating the crowds means catching a morning departure before peak commuter hours.
